There are many popular predatory dinosaurs. Tyrannosaurus, Carnotaurus, Spinosaurus and Allosaurus are some of the most recognized names in the dinosaur kingdom. But these are only a tiny fraction of the meat eating dinosaurs that once roamed our planet. One of my favorites was a large predator named Torvosaurus. “TORV-uh-SAWR-us”It lived in western North America during the late Jurassic Period. These massive predators may have reached adult sizes of 39 feet in length. Although it was huge, they were built for speed and probably chased down their prey. They may have hunted alone, or in packs to bring down larger prey.

Just found your site after watching an episode of JFC.
Allosaurus is also my favorite and I have always been interest in Torvosaurus, but haven't been able to find a lot of info.
I've been creating some 3D dinos (not quite the caliber of your show!) and was looking for orthographic drawings of a torvosaur and haven't found any.
Anyway, glad I found your site. Already ordered the allo and T. rex DVDs.
Nice to find another source for dino information.

Hi Bob!
Let me look around and see if I can find some stuff on Torvo. I would love to see some of your work!!!!
George
Hey, George, that would be great.
I don't have much done (not my core business), so it's done in my spare time.
Here's where some of my "work" is http://www.theiguanaden.com/pages/playground.html.
You can click some of the links on the page to see a few things. The Tests page has a full animation test I had done. It takes a while to download. Of course, after looking at it so long I see a million things wrong with the walk, but I'll do better on the next one. For one thing, the ankles don't bend!
Thanks...
Bob
Sooo here we have a picture of "Dino George" standing next to Torvosaurus which, last I checked, is larger than Allosaurus. And yet he still uses every chance in the program to claim Allosaurus was the largest predator of the time...
Then maybe you should check again ag. Torvosaurus is not larger than Allosaurus. The "estimated" size of Torvosaurus is based on non-complete skeletons. Allosaurus, on the other hand, is based on much more complete skeletons.
You are also incorrect when you say that I said that Allosaurus was the largest predator of all time. I have said on numerous occasions that Allosaurus is one of the largest predator's of its time.
Epanterias and Saurophaganax were both considerably larger than Allosaurus. And before you send off your next rude e-mail, yes I understand that many people believe that those two dinosaurs are one and the same.
I appreciate you watching JFC. Thanks for helping boost the ratings.
