Traveling to Killeen

I spent a couple of days speaking at an event in Killeen Texas. I saw a little over 1500 kids in two days. The last night of the event the general public was invited to come in and look at the exhibits. This was the second time I had a public event in Killeen and I cannot say enough about the warm and friendly reception I get there. The residence of Killeen truly are some of the nicest people I have ever met.

During my stay I had the opportunity to meet four very important people; The Mayor, City Manager, the Ft. Hood Base Commander, and Joshua M.! And who is Joshua you ask? Well it turns out that young Mr. Joshua is one of the most knowledgeable little dinosaurs lover I have ever met. And not only is he knowledgeable, but he is a very polite young fellow too. His mom was so nice to bring him to see my exhibit. She must be very proud of this young man. After speaking to his mom, I can see where he gets his good manners!

Plans are being made to return to Killeen in September with our dinosaurs exhibit. I am looking forward to the great hospitality and the fine people of Killeen, but I really hope to see young Mr. Joshua when we arrive!

Filming at the Witte Museum

I was invited to shoot a short educational film for the Witte Museum about their Triceratops skeleton. I had the great pleasure of working with Dr. Brenda J. Chinnery-Allgeier from the University of Texas in Austin. She is an expert on Triceratops' miniature cousins like; Zuniceratops, Leptoceratops and Protoceratops.

I was asked to describe the function of the frill, horns, how the jaws worked and to explain the splayed-out stance of their skeleton. New discoveries, and work by people such as Dr. Chinnery-Allgeier, have suggested that Triceratops walked with their front legs carried slightly more underneath their body than originally thought.

This short educational video will be shown next to the Triceratops and will run continuously during their business hours. I wonder how long it will be before the fine folks at the Witte get sick of hearing my voice? Whahahahaha (he says as he rubs his hands together, manically!)

Here is Chuck and I discussing what he wants me to do. The guy in the cap in the foreground is the cameraman.

This is Dr. Chinnery-Allgeier going over her speaking notes, right before filming.

This is our cameraman applying my make-up. He said it really didn't help me much. Rotten scoundrel!

This is me discussing the function of the horns.

And here is Dr. Chinnery-Allgeier and myself after filming.
